Giuliana Gianino

Dr. Gianino is originally from California, where she graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She moved to Ames to complete an internship in comparative theriogenology (reproductive medicine/surgery across species) at Iowa State University after finishing vet school, and undertook an additional three years of residency training and research in theriogenology between Iowa State University and Auburn University in Alabama. Dr. Gianino practiced in veterinary telemedicine and triage before joining Ames Pet Hospital in 2026, and is eager to be back on the clinic floor supporting pets and their people through routine care, as well as helping the practice grow to provide specialty services in companion animal reproduction.

Dr. Gianino is passionate about client and professional education. Her approach is to treat all patients holistically, regardless of the visit reason, and to communicate honestly and empathetically with their caregivers in order to find solutions and make recommendations in the best interests of both animal and human family members. In addition to reproductive cases, Dr. Gianino’s clinical interests include preventative medicine, nutrition, dermatology
